Cool, he enjoys it at Gunman games. I have a feeling he has sold his Landrover, if not this would be OK for German troop transport.

Any chance of getting punters onto the booking list? Looks a bit empty!

So, after a brief spurt, we're stuck at 3 germans....

Not sure what else we can do now. :|

Most of the germans seem to be in the southern clique. Not sure where the others are? Perhaps it's worth pointing out that ss uniforms are acceptable too, as long as collar insignia is covered/removed?

Heh, I don't think it is anything to do with uniforms or the lack of - there are rarely complaints of not having kit these days or of feeling excluded. Even the casual player seems to be kit obsessed. So much so that an event that says 'you don't need uniforms' has no appeal, as Jimbo tells us!

Even the June SISK hasn't reached 40 players and that includes those running it.

I think we have reached the point now where the old school has dwindled to an uneconomic level (unless you go down Craig's route of uncomplicated game and cheap site) and we are now where we started - themed games and uncommitted (and unconnected) players. I put quite a bit of blame at Josh's feet - he isn't interested in WW2 any more (where the hell are all his die-hards) and instead is serving up larp and other genre games that people are wandering off to.

Anyhoo, I won't bother going to site this month and drawing up a plan, I'll just wait to go down with you both as by then we will know whether there is a game to plan for. As I've previously said, this is my last gasp as a game organiser and in any case I'll be flogging off all my kit by the end of the year. Too much to do and too little time! It is a year since my last game (feels like a month!) and I can't say I've been gagging to get to another, so meh.

Yep, same here.

Well then, shall we put the end of this month down as "make or break"?

Yep. I'll probably sell up too. If I go to any more WW2 games I'll try British.

Weirdly, you mention Josh's LARP. There are lots of people who play WW2 and Flying Lead. They love FL, but ask them to LARP in WW2 and they baulk at the idea.

Weird.

End of the month cut-off then. While we don't necessarily need balanced sides we do need enough to make a game of it, especially in such a site. In any case it isn't fair on Close Action.
14 players at the moment, plus the four we haven't heard from. I was hoping for 40.

Evo's up for German 2i/c.

He has some questions:

Hiya, yeah, I'd be up for that, not a problem. Any particular unit/uniform requirements beyond the published ones? I've got a Heer officer's uniform, so can change waffenfarbe etc as necessary. Also, what rank are you, as I wouldn't want to outrank you!

Errrrr. Chommers? The uniform you're lending is for Oberfeldwebel, right?

Good news on Evo.

White waffen for this scenario. The real bloke in charge of the the battery that you are portraying is Oberfeldwebel (Sergeant Major). I don't actually have that (just SS Major) but was going to order it when we know the event is going ahead. So Evo can be any rank below, whatever he has. If he happens to have Oberfeldwebel then I'll order a lower rank instead and you can borrow his.

By the way, I think we need to announce that there is a cut-off date and that we need at least 25 players to make this work.

Has McVickers indicated he is coming to the new event. And what about Barrie?

Just sent this to Chris from CA:

Hi Chris

I just wanted to give you a heads up with regards to the event we’re planning for Grafton.

We’re stil struggling for bookings, despite having re-invented the scenario and broadened the scope for people to be able to attend…

We need 9 more bookings, mainly on the German side. If we don’t get these bookings the event really can’t run effectively. We’ve put out a deadline for the end of June for this, mainly so that you have plenty of time if you’d like to use the weekend to run an event should ours fail. We’ll let you know on the first weekend in July if we need to cancel our booking with you.

We hope we can get the numbers over the next couple of weeks. If any of your regulars are interested, please do push them our way to book on. We have uniforms and guns that we can loan out. viewforum.php?f=265

All the best

Stephen

He's going to post on his Facebook page to see if there's any interest from their contacts.

Good stuff. Zero interest from Gunman site? Has he got any WW2 players any more?

Do you think we can make Merville work if a few people swap from Allied to German? I'm sure people would prefer that than cancelling the entire event.

We have 23 people booked on now, could me move it to eleven/twelve a side and tweak the scenario a little?

It seems a shame to not at least give CiA a bit of a send-off, and also have a bit of a social with some of our old-timers.

Close Action will get £940 as it stands, so I doubt they'll be too unhappy with that!

It could work with less per side. I still can't believe that we don't have enough Germans and, the silence from the "immersive" group is deafening.

I'd rather not run an event than not even be able to field a pathetic 15 a side. It would be more like a training day! Factor in attendance drop outs, a big site, two players not particularly mobile and I think it will end up a miserable affair.

I'm afraid a chunk of those 'immersive' players haven't a clue what immersive means and they are the ones advocating popular games. ITV vs BBC Four. Ford Fiesta vs ermmm Nissan Figaro!
